Amir Khan brilliantly said in 3idiots, “Success ke piche mat bhago. Kabil bano kabil. Kamyabi toh jhak maar ke peeche ayegi”. As Parents, how convinced are we with the current educational system? Do you believe that are we really focused on developing our child's capability or are guilty of being obsessed with marks? 
Not to construe me wrong, I too would like my children to score well but having equipped them with requisite resources considering their uniqueness. By resources I mean, to work with the child by understanding his challenges, gradually building his weaknesses into strengths. By doing this we just not work on that specific improvement area but also develop capability in the child to confront future challenges.

Being in the education line, more because of my passion for it, have noticed that kids generally have a problem around unclear concepts, shorter attention span and difficulty in memorizing. Schools with child strength of over 30, can't do any justice in terms of the above challenges, they are just skimming through the syllabus leaving behind plethora of doubts in the minds of the students. Tution/ coaching classes having multiple students in a batch are no better.  So the emphasis has to be on “Self Study” but HOW?
With the academic year just started, “NOW” is the best time to get this corrected. For children with shorter attention span, Brain Gym Exercises, Yoga and Meditation can help. Brain Gym exercises activates both sides of the brain at the same time and along with Yoga improves mindfulness and focus. For improving memory skills would recommend “Mind Mapping”. Mind Map is the easiest way to store & retrieve information from the brain. For clearing concepts we either need to work along the children or have a mechanism wherein we can get their doubts cleared (but not regular coaching). Having equipped our children with Clear Concepts, Better Attention Span and Memorizing Skills we can emphasize on Self-Study.
